INTERVIEW
A
ndrea Vecera, a mul-
ti-award-winning designer
from Turin who has been
living in Seoul for several
years, has elegantly designed the
awards for the "Marmi Lanza Scenic
by Nature Awards 2024." An accolade
that will be presented next year to
three Veronese chefs who are distin-
guished for their ability to interpret
the raw materials of our territory with
style, sustainability, innovation, and
respect. We interviewed him while he
was passing through Verona at the
Marmi Lanza headquarters to select
precious natural stones that, thanks
to the cut-to-size service, will trans-
form his designs into unique pieces.
Your design exudes a cosmopolitan
spirit; tell us about your journey.
"I was born in Turin and have always
travelled extensively. From Italy,
where I lived in almost every region, to
Seoul, where I have been living for sev-
eral years, passing through Finland. I
have lived in different places at various
latitudes, which has allowed me to
grow both personally and in terms of
design
Where does your
inspiration as a
product designer
come from?
"My inspiration stems from
my passions. I am fascinated by
curves and angles: as an admirer of
Gothic style, I attach great importance
to these aspects in my designs, almost
obsessively. Curves are the common
thread of this collection. In product
design, I draw inspiration from dis-
ciplines that may seem distant from
mere design: inspiration comes from
the arts and cultural elements, such as
cinema or music. The work of Arman-
do Testa, one of the greatest Italian
advertisers and designers, has had a
signif icant inf luence on me."
Is there a distinctive trait in your
creative process?
"I enjoy telling stories through my
objects, so for this project, I sought a
theme that could be linked to Marmi
Lanza's strong connection with its
territory. After extensive research into
the popular traditions of Verona, I was
captivated by the ritual of f ilò This
tradition from the Venetian country
side involves gathering with family to
pass down legends and stories to chil
dren all while warming up together by
the f ire or in the stable while spinning
